Worst Company I Have Ever Dealt With

I first called Abury by mistake. I was trying to call a fencing company and pressed the wrong link on my phone, but Abury was so nice and polite on the phone, I asked him to provide a quote. He never showed for our first appointment and then came by a few days later, saying he just forgot about the appointment. He quoted me $6738 to clear the fence line and build the fence. It was not the cheapest, but the price was fair. They also said they could start right away, which was really important because we had just adopted a dog and wanted him to be able to go outside while we were at work. I asked if he would be building it personally (not subbing it out) and he said he would be out there every day to supervise. I have never seen him since. We amended the contract to beef up the corner and gate posts, complete within two weeks, and both signed it. The workers arrived two days later, brought twelve 4x4x10 pieces of lumber and 12 bags of concrete, and began digging holes. When I got home from work, I saw they had not cleared the fence line and dug some of the holes 20’ onto my neighbors yard. This was really hard to do because they were building the fence along an old fence line in the back. Since the fence line had not been cleared, the fence weaved all over my yard, where ever it was easiest to dig the holes. No three holes were in a straight line and they weren’t an even distance apart. I called Abury, and he said they would get right back out and fix it. Four days later, they can out, dug the holes on my property, and set seven posts. They never came out again. I couldn’t get Abury on the phone for the next three weeks. He finally said it was because he couldn’t find anyone to work for me because I kept changing the design plans. (All I asked them to do was dig the holes on my property) After another two weeks, he said someone would be out the next day. Joseph showed up the next day with one worker and his two toddler children. We went to Home Depot to get the supplies, but Abury said he had transferred the contract to Joseph and they were done with me. He said they had $1600 in supplies, $1600 in labor, and the rest was COMPANY PROFIT! They had maybe $500 in labor and materials by this point. I bought over $4300 worth of materials and never heard from Abury again. Abury had told Joseph he would get $3000 for one days work. After a couple of days working on the fence, Joseph quit because Abury wouldn’t pay him, and I had already paid over $8000 for a fence that was only half finished and very poorly built. I finished the fence myself over the next several weeks. Turns out Joseph owns a trucking company and was only doing the job for some quick cash. The work was so bad, I had to redo a lot of it. I am currently filing a lawsuit with Prodigal Son Remodeling and trying to get back as much of the money as possible. Not only did they break the contract, the work that they did was so bad, it made the whole fence crooked and unsightly. It was a terrible mistake to hire them. They say they are a Christian company, but they stole that money from me. DO NOT HIRE THEM!!!

His good reviews are deceiving!

The worst contractor I’ve ever dealt with; every mistake he makes will be your fault. His good reviews on some sites are deceiving. The price was fair for a good quality job. But it was far from quality work. The fence posts were all installed crooked; no 3 posts were in nearly a straight line; the spacing was inconsistent (8-12 feet between posts). He used my truck as a trash bin, my wheelbarrow, and smashed up a few of the expensive bricks in my yard, using them as a hammer because they forgot the sledge hammer (which you’re not supposed to use for post installations anyways). All of this was done without talking to me first. I had a solid, metal, sturdy wheelbarrow that had several years of use left. After arguments, he agreed to replace it (It was clear he felt him using my tools was my fault and he didn’t need to replace it). He replaced it with a barely usable, cheap (already cracked) plastic wheelbarrow. He told me the work was finished, then I realized there was trash everywhere in my yard (scrap metal, cement; both solid and powder, pieces of fence, tools). The fence in several spots was 1-2 inches above the ground. 2 cemented posts were completely wobbling. He did some work, then told me “Ok, now it’s finished”; still wasn’t done. He had to come out a third time, complaining about how I’m asking for “extra work not in the contract”. He constantly cuts corners, has no concept of quality, and makes it very clear the only reason he is doing the job is for money. The first impression of him was great, but it’s just a show to get paid. I texted him, offering the opportunity to replace the plastic wheelbarrow with a metal one like I had before I post the review. He told me “I don’t respond well to threats” and blamed me for all of it, saying he was overly generous to me. I wish I’d never done business with him.

Awesome Job

They were awesome !!!! They advised me to get a few quotes from several places to know the ballpark figure of the average cost, and to compare the price vs detail work that would be performed. Calling his bluff, I did just that. I decided to go with them. Best choice ever!!! My deck is beautiful. They completely remodeled and updated my kitchen, while walking me through the process step by step. They cleaned up and removed any evidence of the remodel and left me with more than a beautiful kitchen and deck, these guys showed me that they are the best.

interior renovation

We had a fire in our home. Mr Abury and his crew gave us a great deal, saved on our deductible and even did services that weren't on his contract simply because it had to be done. We are very grateful for his honesty and integrity. We will always use their services for our remodeling needs. Jim
